Three Pointer Tuesday: Subscribe to These Three Podcasts

For this week’s Three Pointer I’d like to recommend the following three podcasts.

  1. Inside Education
This podcast brings you the weekly Inside Education show from 103.2 Dublin City FM. The show is presented by Seán Delaney and offers “an Irish perspective on news and stories from the world of education”.

  2. Techlandia Podcast
The Techlandia Podcast brings you tips and advice from tech savvy educators. They recommend people to follow on Twitter, apps to download, programs to use etc. Brought to you by @ipadsammy and @tedrosececi.

  3. The CultCast
This isn’t an educational podcast but if you’re a fan of Apple products you’ll love it. If you’re not a fan you’ll hate it as the presenters are seriously pro-Apple! Brought to you by Cult of Mac.

These are three of the podcasts I download and listen to regularly. I use Downcast to manage my podcast subscriptions as I wasn’t a fan of Apple’s Podcasts app when it was first released, although it has improved since then.

Tag Clouds for Tumblr Users

Here are two excellent tag cloud generators for Tumblr users. A tag cloud can really add to the visual appeal of a blog as well as being functional, allowing readers to find relevant content with just a click.

  1. Basic Tag Cloud
This creates a tag cloud that, as the name suggests, looks basic. It is still very useful and looks quite good.

  2. Pretty Tag Cloud
I prefer this one as it’s visually appealing and highly customisable. I have use this one to create the tag cloud here at The Inside Lane.

Both tag cloud generators were developed by Felix.

Digital Art Week 2013

One of the most enjoyable weeks of the school year takes place from 15th - 21st April this year. That week is Digital Art Week.

The brainchild of Fred Boss, Damien Quinn and Simon Lewis, Digital Art Week involves primary school students all around Ireland viewing, creating, sharing and responding to visual arts using digital media and technology. You can have your students create art using PCs, iPads, tablets, iPods and digital cameras. This work is then shared publicly to allow students everywhere view look at and respond to it.

This year the team have put together a website where participating classes can register, share their work and comment on the work of others. Head over to digitalartweek.com to sign up and find out more about this excellent project. Well done again to Fred, Damien and Simon.
