Teacher “Downtime”
Many people might disagree, but as a teacher I can say that every single day off is well earned! Teaching can be an exhausting experience. You’re under constant pressure to cover the full curriculum with a full class who can vary greatly in terms of ability. You have no shortage of other extra-curricular activities and events that need to be planned, prepared for and pulled off with military precision. You have plenty of corrections and paperwork to keep up with whenever you manage to find the time. And you have an inevitable emotional involvement with your work.
All in all, it’s important to make the most of the many holidays. If you don’t do whatever you can to recuperate, then a term or half-term can be a real drag and extremely tiring.
I’m lucky enough to have next week off so I’m heading to Portugal for some sun, fun and relaxation! I’ll come back refreshed and ready for a very busy final few weeks.

The photo is actually from Spain a few years ago!
